Fences, gates and access control in West Palm Beach

Permits

West Palm Beach still requires fence permits

Florida’s HB 803 exempted some small residential projects from building permits starting July 1, 2026. West Palm Beach explains that its fence permit requirement doesn’t come from the building code — it comes from the city’s zoning code, which regulates allowed fence height, type, setbacks and location. So fences, fence pool barriers and driveways still need a city permit.

Applications go through the city’s online permitting portal, Civic Access. We prepare the layout and paperwork and file it for you.
