Spot repair, partial replacement or a new fence?
Not every damaged fence needs to come down, and not every old fence is worth patching. We look at five things and tell you which category yours falls into:
- Age and condition — is the rest of the fence sound, or is this the first sign it’s at the end of its life?
- How many posts are failing — one or two is a repair; failures every few feet usually isn’t.
- How far the damage goes — one panel, or sections down across the property.
- Whether the material can be matched — see below.
- Code and HOA requirements — a pool barrier or HOA-regulated fence may need to meet rules the original fence predates.
We never assume a repair will be cheaper than replacement, and we won’t push a new fence when a repair will do.
Can you match my existing fence?
Sometimes exactly, sometimes closely, sometimes not at all. Vinyl colors and profiles vary by manufacturer and get discontinued. New wood looks different from weathered wood until it ages or is stained. Aluminum and chain link are usually easier to match. We check availability before we quote and tell you up front if a repair will look different from the rest of the fence.

Storm and hurricane damage
Wind and flying debris cause much of the fence damage in South Florida. If a storm brought down part of your fence:
- Safety first — stay clear of downed power lines and sections that are still leaning.
- If your pool barrier is down, keep children and pets away from the pool and secure the area until the barrier is repaired.
- Photograph everything before cleanup — wide shots and close-ups — for your records and any insurance claim.
- Don’t pull posts set in concrete near buried utility, irrigation or pool lines.
- Text us the photos with your city or ZIP.
After a major storm, demand spikes across the region. We schedule inspections as fast as we can and give priority to down pool barriers and unsecured commercial sites — but we won’t promise a time we can’t keep.
Whether insurance pays for fence damage depends on your policy. We can give you photos and a written estimate to share with your insurer; we can’t promise coverage.
Do fence repairs need a permit?
It depends on the city and the size of the repair. Small like-for-like repairs often don’t, larger repairs and replacements often do, and pool barriers have their own rules. Under Florida’s HB 803 (effective July 1, 2026), Wellington lists fence repairs that don’t touch the posts among small residential projects exempt from a building permit — while pool barriers are not exempt. Other cities apply their own rules, so we check before starting.
