Permits in Pompano Beach — including after HB 803
The city’s fence checklist calls for a Broward County Uniform Permit Application, a Zoning Compliance Permit Application, a survey or site plan showing the fence location, height, type and gates, easement agreements where needed, and a tree permit if trees are near the work. Materials other than 6-foot chain link or wood need a current Notice of Acceptance or a site-specific detail sealed by a design professional.
In October 2026 the city updated its HB 803 guidance: all fences, regardless of material or height, may qualify for the building permit exemption on single-family homes outside flood hazard zones, if a request is filed before work begins. But a Zoning Compliance permit is always required for any new fence, and pool barriers must stay compliant with Florida’s pool safety law.
