Permits

Fence permits in and around Okeechobee

Inside city limits, permits go through the City of Okeechobee Building & Permitting Department. The city says online applications aren’t available, so applications are filed in person, by fax or by mail, and residential permits need two sets of plans. Owners who live in the home can act as owner-builder with an affidavit.

Outside city limits, permits go through Okeechobee County’s Building Department, which the county operates through a contractor and which keeps permit records on eTRAKiT. We tell you which office covers your address and prepare the paperwork.

Florida’s pool safety law (§515.29) sets the basics for a residential pool barrier: at least 4 feet high on the outside, no gaps a young child could get through or climb, and gates that open outward and self-close and self-latch. See pool fence installation.
